Mr. Manohar SJB Rana brings over three decades of experience in Nepal’s tourism industry. He served as the First Vice President of the Nepal Association of Tour Operators, where he contributed to strengthening and promoting the country’s travel sector.
Education & Professional Background
He holds a Master’s Degree in Economics and a Bachelor’s Degree in Law. His academic profile is further enhanced by diplomas in both French and German languages. He has completed higher management training in Europe and has participated in several specialized tourism training programs.
In addition, he served three terms as the Vice President of the Nepal–France Chamber of Commerce, supporting international business and tourism relations.

Achievements
Driven by a passion to create extraordinary and meaningful contributions to tourism, Mr. Rana brought the first-ever Concorde aircraft to Nepal on 12 October 1987, carrying 163 international tourists. In the same year, he also operated a Boeing 747 charter flight, marking a significant milestone in Nepal’s aviation and tourism history.
He successfully organized the private visit of the late His Majesty King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev to Seychelles, Arusha, and Kenya. Over the years, he has traveled extensively worldwide for business promotions, international conferences, and familiarization trips to strengthen Nepal’s global tourism presence.
Widely respected in the MICE sector, he has managed numerous large-scale conferences and incentive movements, earning appreciation from international organizers. His contributions extend beyond tourism into social development initiatives, for which he has received several honors and awards.
In recognition of his exceptional service, dedication, and leadership, he was bestowed the prestigious title of “Tourism Heritage” by the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation and the private sector in 2009. He was also honored with the PATA Personality Award in 2015.
