    Pashupatinath Temple

Located approximately 6 km (4 miles) from Kathmandu city center, Pashupatinath Temple is the holiest Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Set amidst a lush green landscape on the banks of the sacred Bagmati River, this revered temple is renowned for its stunning pagoda-style architecture, gilded roof, and intricately carved silver doors.

The main deity is a five-faced Shiva lingam, representing Lord Shiva in his divine form. As the god of destruction and transformation, Shiva holds a prominent place in the Hindu Trinity (Trimurti).

Pashupatinath is a major pilgrimage site, especially during the annual festival of Maha Shivaratri, which falls in February or March on the moonless night. During this sacred occasion, thousands of devotees and sadhus from Nepal and India gather to worship Lord Shiva. The festival is observed with great devotion for one full day and night.

Behind the main temple complex are the traditional Hindu cremation ghats, where funeral rites are performed along the Bagmati River.

    Boudhanath Stupa

Situated about 11 km (7 miles) from Kathmandu, Boudhanath Stupa is one of the largest and holiest Buddhist stupas in Nepal. This magnificent white dome stands as a powerful symbol of peace and enlightenment.

The stupa features four pairs of all-seeing eyes of Buddha, facing the four cardinal directions, symbolizing awareness and compassion. The symbol between the eyes represents the Sanskrit numeral “one,” signifying the unity of all things.

Believed to have been built by King Man Deva on the advice of the goddess Mani Jogini, the stupa rests on an octagonal base. Prayer wheels inscribed with the Tibetan mantra “Om Mani Padme Hum” surround the structure. At ground level, a brick wall displays 108 images of meditating Buddhas set behind copper prayer wheels.

Often referred to as “Little Tibet,” Boudhanath is one of the best places in the Kathmandu Valley to experience traditional Tibetan culture and lifestyle. The area is surrounded by monasteries and homes of lamas (Buddhist priests), making it a significant center of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal.

Boudhanath Stupa is proudly listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a must-visit destination for travelers exploring Nepal.

    Bhaktapur Durbar Square

Bhaktapur, also known as Bhadgaon, means “City of Devotees.” Covering an area of 6.88 sq. km, the city is uniquely shaped like a conch shell. Located about 14 km (9 miles) southeast of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur was founded in the 9th century and remains one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Nepal.

Bhaktapur Durbar Square showcases the splendor of the golden age of Nepali art and architecture. The square features an impressive collection of temples and historic monuments, including the magnificent 55 Window Palace, built by King Bhupatindra Malla. This architectural masterpiece is famous for its intricately carved wooden windows.

During your visit, you will also explore the iconic Nyatapola Temple, a remarkable five-tiered pagoda-style temple. Standing on five terraces, each level is guarded by pairs of stone figures — strong men, elephants, lions, griffins, and goddesses — symbolizing increasing levels of strength and protection.

Other significant temples in the area include the Bhairava Temple, the Dattatreya Temple, and the beautifully crafted Golden Gate, considered one of the finest examples of repousse metalwork in Nepal.

Bhaktapur Durbar Square was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 and has since become a model for heritage conservation. Also located within the square is the Bhaktapur Art Museum, which houses an impressive collection of stone sculptures, traditional paintings, and historical art objects.

  • AM: Scenic Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara

Begin your journey with a scenic road transfer to Pokhara via the picturesque Prithvi Highway. Covering approximately 200 km from Kathmandu, the drive typically takes around 6–7 hours under normal road conditions.

Along the way, you will travel beside the beautiful Trishuli River, passing charming villages, terraced farmlands, lush hillsides, and breathtaking landscapes. On clear days, you may also enjoy views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks.

Upon arrival in Pokhara, transfer to your hotel and check in.

    PM: Boating at Phewa Lake

Phewa Lake is the most popular attraction in Pokhara for travelers seeking relaxation and recreational boating. It is the second-largest lake in Nepal, stretching approximately 1.5 km by 4 km.

Rent a boat for a couple of hours and glide across the tranquil waters, or venture toward the forested hills that border the lake. Boats are available for hourly rental or for the entire day. You may choose to row on your own or hire a local boatman for a more leisurely experience.

At the center of the lake lies a small island that houses the sacred Tal Barahi Temple, dedicated to Goddess Barahi. Devotees and visitors alike boat across the lake to offer prayers and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

After boating, return to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure.

Pokhara is uniquely positioned at an altitude of around 800 meters above sea level, yet it offers breathtaking views of some of the world’s highest peaks, including mountains rising above 8,000 meters.
